He slept like a baby, looking too angelic and too innocent to be disturbed from his slumber. Jake could watch him sleeping for hours, but Adam woke up with a start when Jake touched his shoulder. He just wanted to check if the welts on Adam’s back had faded as they should have. He didn’t think he would wake him up. Adam had slept on the chaise all night, undoubtedly wrung out.

Adam’s eyes flew wide open when he saw him. He looked disoriented at first, and when he realized where he was, he immediately slipped into his plaything role again. “Sir.” He bowed his head.

“Drop it.” Jake cleared the stray hair on Adam’s face, touching his cheek lovingly. “We aren’t playing games anymore. You can call me Jake.”

The ecstatic gleam in Adam’s eyes vanished. He looked disappointed and didn’t try to hide his feelings either. He caught Jake’s hand and squeezed it as if he didn’t want the playtime to be over. “I’d love to be able to call you Sir from now on.”

Jake wasn’t surprised. He knew what Adam wanted; had known it all along since Adam frequented his club. He had a kind of hungry look in his eyes, not only for lust, but affection as well. Jake knew a love-starved soul when he saw one. Once he got to know Adam, Jake liked him more than he’d anticipated. Adam had something inside him that Jake hadn’t seen in his love interests for a long time. Adam had passion. Fire.

One that stormed into his life and started burning everything before he could stop it.

Jake drew a deep breath. He’d love to take what Adam offered, but Dash disliked permanent arrangements. Dash didn’t mind occasional third parties, as he often brought someone he liked to share for a night of hot sweaty sex between them.

But Dash got jealous if that third party wanted something permanent. And a jealous Dash wasn’t a pretty sight. “I’m sorry. I don’t take new submissives anymore.”

Adam looked crestfallen. “Am I… not good enough for you?”

“I didn’t say that.”

Adam’s hand tightened on his. “I can offer you so much more than… him.”

Jake watched him warily. Had it become obvious to the public about his relationship with Dash? It was embarrassing when he used to be a pro Dom. Jake patted him and rose. “I know.”

He felt Adam’s gaze burn his back as he walked toward the bar area to pour himself a drink. He heard Adam whisper in a pained voice, “And?”

Too bad that was the one question he didn’t feel like answering.
